The vision given to us has not changed much than what has been communicated in the past, in that the vision is to love God, love people, and love the Truth. This is encapsulated in the Great Commandments found in Matthew 22:37-40, to love God and to love our neighbor.

The outgrowth of this love is to be expressed based on several verses in Scripture. In John 14:15, Jesus tells us how to best show our love to Him. Keep His commandments. Obey His Word. To be more specific, the word ‘keep’ is in an infinite future verb tense, which means the verb ‘keep’ would be a continuous and repeated action. We would also show our love to God by involving ourselves in His work so that He may be glorified. Matthew 5:16 tells us to let our light shine before men, that they may see our good works and glorify our Father which is in heaven. Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.

We are also to love people, and there are at least two ways we can do so. One is by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Matthew 28:18-20 says “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, ‘All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost’ “. God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son. As children of God, we are instruments that are now used to show and tell the world of the love of God through Jesus.

The second way we show the love of people is by building up the body of Christ in love. Ephesians 4:11-13 gives us an example of some of the things the Spirit empowers us to do with the goal being to perfect, or mature, the saints, for the work of the ministry, and for the edifying, or building up, the body of Christ. The list of the offices within the church, though not an extensive one, are for the purpose of bringing saints to maturity so they be able to both do the work of the ministry (which would include telling others to Christ), as well as building up one another, the body of Christ. This would include helping bringing someone who has fallen into a point of restoration. Ephesians 6:1-2 says, “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ”.

We are also to love the Truth of God by seeking, holding fast to, and being led by the Truth of God. Our love of God should compel us to seek the Truth of God, to be lead by His Truth (Psalms 25:5), to be sanctified by the Truth (John 17:17), to hold and to keep the Truth (1 Tim. 1:13-14), to rightly divide that Truth (2 Tim. 2:15, which is very important!). To love Jesus is to literally love the Truth (John 14:6)!

We must keep in mind, if we are servants of the most High God, and of Jesus Christ, then we ought to be subjecting ourselves to the Commandments outlined in Matthew 22:37-40. To love God. To love people. To love His Truth.
